The University of Maryland, College Park (consistently implied as The University of Maryland, Maryland, UM, UMD, or UMCP) is an open investigation university[6] arranged in the city of College Park in Prince George's County, Maryland, plus or minus 4 miles (6.4 km) from the upper east edge of Washington, D.C. Built up in 1856, the University of Maryland is the pioneer establishment of the University System of Maryland.
